What can I expect from the first therapy session?

How long are the therapy sessions, and how many do I need?

Therapy sessions typically last 50-60 minutes. The number of sessions varies according to your individual needs and goals, and we regularly assess progress to ensure the therapy’s effectiveness.

Is everything I share in therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is the cornerstone of therapy. Everything you share will be kept private, except in cases where there are legal requirements, such as when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.

How can I schedule an appointment?

What is your cancellation policy?

Please notify me at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee, as it allows the time to be offered to another client.

Do you offer online or remote therapy sessions?

Yes, I offer online therapy sessions through a secure video conferencing platform. This can be a convenient option for clients who are unable to attend in person or who prefer remote sessions.

What should I bring to the first session?

For the first session, it would be helpful to bring relevant medical or psychological documents, a list of current medications, and any insurance information. You may also bring a list of questions or concerns you would like to discuss.

How do I know if therapy is the right option for me?

Can you start psychotherapy without a referral?

Yes, you can seek psychotherapy without a referral. You can access a private practice directly by booking an appointment, and no doctor’s referral is required. However, if you want to use Kela-funded rehabilitative psychotherapy, you will need a doctor’s referral and a treatment plan. I recommend discussing with your doctor if you are interested in the possibility of Kela reimbursement.
